Announcing V.A.= S.S.: A New Free Service for the Industry Promoting Performers with Disabilities = (PWDs)!

V.A.S.S. or Val= ue Added Script Services, a not for profit consulting service for WGA writers to help them create characters with disabilities is now available.  V.A.S.S.<= /i> will also provide producers, casting directors, and directors with all the information they need to add the special flavor of disability to their stor= ies to make them even more successful.

 

V.A.S.S.= is highly supported by many l= eaders in the entertainment industry.  The goal is to get the complete suppor= t of all of the guilds (SAG, WGAw, CSA, PGA, and DGA= ) and to publicize the fact that performers with disabilities are a highly trained professional group of actors that are being underutilized. The SAG/U.C.L.A. report produced by Dr. Olivia Raynor at the Nat= ional Arts and Disability Center, stating = that performers with disabilities appear in film and television 0.5% of the time, confirms what most performers with disabilities are already quite aware of.=
